Thrills!

Oh my oh my!!

So:
We had gone to bed & I was wide awake, so I got up to journal, read & do some yoga.

While reading, I hear someone run quickly past the window on the side of our house & then turn & run in front of the house. Just after, I hear a short siren, I see a state police drive past. A few minutes later, another short siren & I can hear a radio.

Having finished the third season of The Wire tonight, my mind quickly went wild will my knowledge of police & bad guys & the fictional Baltimore drug trade & weapons use.

Not three minutes later, I hear yelling. Things such as “Police! Come out and show yourself!” and “Identify yourself or I’ll release the dog!” The parking lot behind our house adjoins to a church parking lot – the cops where parked & entering from there. Our bedroom window faces that direction so we got a good view of the police & the dog & it was clear they thought whoever it was was hiding back there.

Being the good citizen I am, & having been helped by the Ypsi police before, I went out & called to them & told them how I had heard someone run past & around the front. They asked some questions & were nice & you could see the intensity in their eyes & there were flashlights & a fierce-looking German Shepard. [Did anyone else have school assemblies where they show how a police dog can attack your arm & pull you down & arrest you, only you won't have the luxury of a giant protective arm cast? Scary!]

I heard more sirens a minute ago. When I was outside there our block was blocked off by police cars.

As if I needed this adrenaline rush to help me fall asleep…..

Oh goodness they’re back…. They seem to be searching the streets & yards, all the police on foot, with flashlights.

Looks like I might not be going to bed for awhile.

And now they were just searching under the tarp where we keep our firewood. That’s directly outside our bedroom window, it was loud & there are lots of lights. Poor Joel, I don’t think he’ll get much sleep. Wes, on the other hand, is very awake & agitated & perhaps he thinks he can be a police dog? Or maybe just meet the police dog…
