“Are you blogging?!?” asked Joel incredulously.
I am!
So:
I’m almost half finished with my first semester of school. Wow. Thus far it’s been incredible, exhausting, wondrous and stressful. I’m overwhelmed with so many great opportunities! Overall my classes are good this semester & I’ve been exploring what I want to do with the rest of my life. As of today, I’ve decided to change my specializations [I think].
I’m currently Library & Information Science, but I think I’m switching to dual specialize in Archives & Records Managment and Preservation of Information. I’m going to meet with a faculty member soon to discuss my interests & goals, but right now conservation appeals to me most.
I left the library about a month ago for my new job at the University of Michigan Herbarium. I work with plant specimens – some of them over 100 years old! My main duties include packing, shipping, unpacking & processing specimens. We loan out our collection to other places for research & our researchers borrow from other places. 99% of my work is done alone & I can listen to lots of podcasts. My new favorite is You Look Nice Today. I laugh so hard & I’m glad no one else is around to see my looking ridiculous.
I also got another tattoo:
I love, love, love it. I came up with the idea & Frank at Depot Town Tattoo drew it for me. As for the meaning behind it – books, to me, represent information & as information is disseminated [birds], it can empower people [they'll soar like birds!]. It’s pretty nerdy. I also plan to get a card catalog tattooed on the other side of my arm eventually.
Fall has come to Michigan! I’ve been drinking lots of hot cider & wearing scarves. This weekend we’re going to have some firewood delivered & move the couches around so they face the fireplace. [Although it will probably be 70 degrees next weekend, knowing Michigan.]
I suppose I’ll stop procrastinating & get back to reading now.
Most posts to come! Including: how I hate North Face jackets & Ugg boots, the awful trend of leggings-as-pants and The Best Latte[s] Evar.
LOVE,
Elizabeth
