It feels really good to be back in class & on campus! Plus, I love that it snowed so much!
Yesterday I sat in my favorite spot – a chair in front of the large windows of the science periodical reading room in the undergraduate library. There’s a great view & the snow was beautiful. I loved watching people trudge to class, greet each other with hugs, make way for the snow blower & the few bike riders cautiously navigate their way.
The School of Information provided everyone with 100 free business cards & they were in our mailboxes when we returned from break. I feel so legit!
I had about two hours of extra time on campus yesterday &, since I have no homework yet, I decided to redo my layout. I thought the 3 column layout would be less cluttered. Also, I found a great picture of a card catalog on Flickr & was able to use it under a Creative Commons License.
I read an article about the student populations in southern schools & I was struck [although not too surprised] by this quote:
An affluent 5-year-old has about the same vocabulary as an adult living in poverty.
I said goodbye to Alisha today – she’s headed back to Botswana for another year of teaching & living. She is an amazing & beautiful person & an amazing friend.
What a lazy friday post! Time for work & then to head to Chicago to have an awesome time visiting Victoria!!
Here’s to a great weekend!
