Whirlwind of wonderful

Wow!!! I’m SO crazy busy here in Washington DC, but I’ve loved every minute of it.

Quick rundown:
I’m working in the History of Medicine Exhibition Department of the National Library of Medicine, which is on the National Institutes of Health campus in Bethesda, MD
Today I got my very own Library of Congress library card!!!!!
I also worked my way into the rare books room at the Library of Congress & chatted with a librarian
And today I also visited the National Archives & Records Administration
Plus I got a tour of the capital with my friend who is interning with a senator
Last night I met with that friend [the senate intern] & another friend who works for USAID who lived in Cairo for three years
DC is the first city that I really actually like
I haven’t had any time to work on my presentation for Saturday
I’ve been so so so busy but this is a wonderful experience
Tonight I networked with SI alums who work in places like NARA, the IRS & lots of other amazing places
I leave for Egypt in 56 days!!!

What a random & disjointed post.
Tomorrow is a full day of work & then Friday is debriefing, lunch with management & then a flight out of town!
I’m lucky to live this life.

  • Hi! I found your blog through Ravelry...I'm an undergrad at UM and am in DC right now! I got my library card today too! And I was at the Archives today! I'm currently a non-graduating senior in education and am hoping to get into the SI for archives and records management :) I hope your DC trip is wonderful, I've been here for all of break and I'm absolutely smitten with this place.
